Education Hour November 16 @ 10:15 am

Adult Learning

We attend church and other events and usually all goes well.  What do we do when things go wrong? We look to right relations. If you’re curious to know more, join us for this workshop on how we can keep ourselves in right relations with others.

Scott Thompson will talk to us about common misconceptions regarding scientific claims. For example, there’s a popular claim that “Humans only use 10% of our brains.” Is that true? We’ll find out! There may also be some surprising facts about nature that you’ll learn. Perhaps you know that Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. However, you may be surprised to learn that it depends on what you mean by “tallest.” If the meaning is more clearly specified, other mountains might claim the title of tallest. These are just to examples of scientific claims that are either misunderstood, learned incorrectly as “facts,” and otherwise problematic.
